Eve's Story
God has been my ever-present help in times of trouble...
One of the most significant ways I’ve experienced God's presence in my life over the last few years is in my time as a student. Moving away from home to Cardiff and then unrooting my life again to move to Nottingham for university was, if i'm honest, a little unsettling. Becoming familiar with a new city, course, church and set of living conditions as well as all of the new found independence that comes with moving away from home understandably causes some anxiety for most uni students. Throw in learning to handle finances, a part time job and some family health issues, and student life can feel overwhelming to say the least.
Despite all of this, my testimony is that God has been my ever-present help in times of trouble. His Word and Spirit have comforted me in my homesickness, His wisdom has guided me through deadline seasons and tricky decisions, He has met every one of my financial needs and in His kindness has given me great friends who sharpen me. Sat in my boxy student bedrooms, I’ve encountered the Lord like I never have before. On sleepless nights when I’ve been kept up by parties in my halls, He taught me to pray. With £5 in my bank account and an electricity bill to pay, He taught me to trust. In all of these mundane things that I’m certain 99% of us have been through in our 20’s, I’ve felt his closeness and His heart towards me. To know and be known by Him, and to rest assured that He is here with me, is the greatest comfort.
