Susan's Story

After the tears and frustrated cries of: “Why me? It’s not fair!”
I love God’s creation. Adventures in nature refresh my soul. Yes, even when it’s blowing a hoolie, pouring with rain or blizzarding in my face – it makes me feel alive!
So what do you do when CFS/ME hits? When it’s an effort to drag your body 100 m down the road? When the thing you enjoyed the most (mountain walking) is stripped away from you?
Well, after the tears and frustrated cries of: “Why me? It’s not fair!” God broke in… He’d ‘forced’ me to rest. But as I did, He also heard my cries. He bore my distress, allowed time for weeping and let me grieve my loss. Gradually I began to feel Him nearby and heard the comforting words: “I am with you, always.” I drew nearer to Him and found peace and acceptance.
Don’t get me wrong, the last seven years have been hard, and the challenges continue. But my joy is back. I know Jesus more deeply and have truly placed Him at the centre of my life. I can really live again.
And you know what – adventure is an attitude. Whatever your situation there’s always something new and exciting round the corner. With Jesus life is good.

We asked real people from across the county to share with us how they have personally experienced the presence of God in their lives. For some it has been a radical, powerful moment. For others it’s more of a daily comfort and peace. Jesus came at Christmas so we all may experience His presence in our lives. Jesus is God with us.
